14336. Sylvester MEWES was born in 1557. He died on 31 Mar 1617 in Harrold, Bedfordshire, England. In his GedCom in GenServ Rev. McLeod has a different set of names. Thefather of Edward Mewes is listed as Edward Mewes, born 26 Mar 1568,son of Bartholomew Mewes and Margaret. In this listing, Edward Mewes,born 1589, is listed as the only son of Edward, born 1568. Data onBartholomew is as follows:
Bartholomew Mewes born 1543, died 12 Dec 1576. Married Margaret.Children of Bartholomew Mewes and Margaret: Edward Mewes, born 26 Mar1568; John Mewes, born 23 May 1574.

Letter from Rev. McLeod, dated 17 Dec 1997:
There seems to be some doubt as to the progenitor of theMewes/Muse line. I have found some genealogies that link the family toBartholomew Mewes and others which link to Silvester Mewes. I havebeen assured by some of those who have done much more research intothe Muse family than I that Silvester Mewes is indeed the progenitorof the line.

Letter from Bob Muse, dated 10 Dec 1997:
Silvester Mewes left a will dated 30 March 1617, proved 31 March1617 in Harrold Parish, Bedfordshire, England. This will namesdaughter Elizabeth and her four children, Edward, Susan, and Martha,plus two unnamed daughters. Harrold is only 3 3/4 miles from SouldropParish. Records for Harrold do not begin until 1598 so Silvester'smarriage date and birthdates for his children are unavailable.Generalizations for timing of Silvester's birth and marriage must bebased on grandson, John Sr.'s birthdate and the fact that Silvesterhad a son named Edward.

14337. UNKNOWN died between 1604 and 1616. Rev. McLeod gives this date. Silvester's wife is not named in hiswill, dated 1617. Children were:

	ii.	Joan MEWES was born in 1580.
	iii.	Elizabeth MEWES was born in 1583. She died on 20 Jun 1658.
	iv.	Martha MEWES was born in 1586.
	v.	Agnes MEWES was born in 1588.
	vi.	Susan MEWES was born in 1591. She died on 28 Oct 1625.
